The crude oil exports from Russia increased from January to May 2010 by 3.8 percent compared to the same period last year. The total volume was to 96.741 million tons.

The Russian natural gas exports have increased from January to May 2010 by 56.4 percent compared to the same period the previous year. The total export volume has been up to 67.4 billion cubic meters.

FMC Technologies announced Thursday that it has signed an agreement with Gazprom Dobycha Shelf LLC for the manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment to support the Kirinskoye field. The award has a value of approximately $190 million in revenue to FMC Technologies.

The first pipe string of the Nord Stream Pipeline was pulled ashore on 3 July. “This construction phase was important and exciting for us, not just from a technological point of view. It also has a symbolic significance, as the Nord Stream Pipeline has now reached the European mainland for the first time and, moreover here in Lubmin, the point where WINGAS is planning and already building the natural gas transfer station and the OPAL and NEL onshore pipelines,” says Dr. Georg Nowack, Nord Stream AG project manager for Germany.

The Baltic Shipyard in St Petersburg has Wednesday launched a barge carrying a nuclear electricity unit. The completion comes ahead of schedule. The unit will be used in the Russian Far East. In Norway mass media and environmental organisations are speculating about that such a floating nuclear power unit will be used in connection with the Shtokman project.

Gazprom has reduced gas deliveries to Belarus by 60% of the contractual amount. This came in a statement earlier today by the gas holding CEO Alexei Miller, according to the Voice of Russia.

Russian energy giant Gazprom has started reducing the amount of gas deliveries to Belarus by 15 percent of the planned daily volume. The company’s chief Alexei Miller said gas cuts might reach up to 85 percent.

The construction of the natural gas pipeline running from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea will commence in Finnish territorial waters next week, reports the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. According to Nord Stream, the company responsible for building the pipeline, a vessel arriving from Sweden’s direction before Midsummer is capable of laying the pipeline on the seabed at a rate of about 2.5 kilometres per day.
Energy efficiency is high on the agenda when the Nordic Council meets representatives of the Russian Duma in Bergen on 25 - 27 May. The MPs will meet experts from Statoil and the University of Bergen, and visit the Oseberg platform.
