Price regulation for hotels during the Olympics 2014 in Sochi: average price of 53 Euro

A single room in a three-star hotel will cost no more than 103 Euros during the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014 per day, while the average price of all hotels in total will be at 53 Euros. This was on Thursday announced by the governmental newspaper "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".
A country against the trend: Grandmothers from Udmurtia represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku

Russia is acting against the trend of selecting young “talents” for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) this year: The country will send six colorful grandmothers from a remote village in the central Russian region of Udmurtia to fight for a Russian victory in Baku. The female pensioners in the group "Buranovskije Babushki" (Grandmothers of Buranovo) won the national competition with their cheerful song "Party for everybody" and enchanted both jury and audience.
Russia: Percentage of spam going back but it is more dangerous

The proportion of email-spam in Russia has gone down to 80.26 percent of the total email traffic last year, an improvement of 1.94 percentage points compared to last year. This is stated in a report made by Russia's leading anti-virus software developer Kaspersky Lab.

Marriott to build three new hotels in Sochi Winter Olympics 2014

The US-based hotel chain Marriott International has announced to build three new hotels in Sochi with a total capacity of 893 rooms. Guests during and after the Olympic Winter Games in 2014 will be able to choose between the Marriott Hotel Krasnaya Polyana, Courtyard by Marriott Hotel and the exclusive JW Marriott Golf Resort of Sochi.
Moscow has Europe's highest hotel rates

Long weekend in Russia - Friday 4 November is a day off

Most countries set the clock back one hour Sunday 30 October 2011 at 3:00 to a time which actually is the standard time. Russia retains, however, the summer time (UTC+4). Thus, the time difference will be 3 hours between Norway and the Russian Mokva time zone, which also applies in Murmansk. For Finland the difference will be 2 hours. The Russian border stations follow Norwegian/Finnish time when it comes to opening hours.
