Russian parliament has adopted strict zero pro mille rule for drivers
[14.07.10]
The Federation Council (the Upper House of the Russian parliament) has approved a draft law which fully bans alcohol use by drivers. With that new law Russia will get one of the strictest anti alcohol rules for drivers in Europe.
The new law cancels the maximum admissible 0.3 pro mille alcoholic content which is 0.5 liter of beer or a glass of vodka consumed by a person who weights about 80 kilograms.
The new law will adopt a zero pro mille regime for drivers.
President Dmitry Medvedev also backed the return of the dry law for drivers.
Russia comes third on the list of traffic accidents after Ukraine and Egypt. In 2009, more than 2,000 Russian citizens died in road accident caused by drunken drivers.
