Russia to spend record-high 500 billion rubles for affordable housing in 2009

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting on the national project for good and affordable housing. The meeting took place in Moscow on Monday. He told that the Russian government will spend a record-setting 500 billion rubles for various housing programmes in 2009.

Terms for the state registration of the rights to privatize and buy apartments, and also for real estate contracts will be reduced to 15-20 days. The leader of the governmental body specified, that the reduction of time will be possible because unnecessary and double procedures will be cut out. In addition the registering bodies will be equipped with modern technology.

Eksperter regner med en ny svindelbølge og advarer mot risikoen for co-investorene.

Norwegian-owned Artic Arena is preparing the biggest building project in Northwest-Russia. They have plans to reconstruct the Murmansk stadium and build a high-standard hotel with 450 rooms as well as a shopping-centre in the heart of Murmansk. Funding seems to be no problem as solvent Norwegian companies like Coop Real Estate, Reitan Real estate, Orkla, FG Real Estate and Amfi ASA stand behind this mega-project. The Labour Union for the Murmansk Region is the former owner of the stadium area and will keep 13 percent of the shares in the new project.
