1st International Economic Forum in Murmansk 15-17 October 2009

The aim of the Forum ”MEF-2009“is to establish an All-Russian platform for the dialogue between the leading representatives of business, government and expert circles regarding cooperation in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region. The Forum – where over 800 participants and journalists are expected – will be based on the new conditions of stabilization and increase of competitiveness of the national economy, creation of the new centre of the economic growth in the Russian North.
RZD is expanding railway connections with Moscow international airports

On 28 August the regular train traffic between the Belorussky Station in the city center of Moscow and airport Sheremetyevo has started. Between the station and the airport 27 pairs of trains "Aeroexpress” will commute.

Russia's Central Bank said Thursday that the country's gold and currency reserves have fallen by 2.3 billion during the week and make up 398.3 billion USD per 21 August 2009.

The Central Bank of Russia said on Thursday that the country’s gold and currency reserves are down by 2.8 billion USD during last week to a volume 400.6 billion USD per 14 August 2009.
Back in the USSR – Beatles weekend in Murmansk 11 -13 September

In the middle of September Park Inn Poliarnie Zori will together with FLAIT organize a weekend for lovers of Beatles-music. The organizers have invited two well-known “Beatles-groups” from Germany and Norway to Murmansk. In addition also local musicians will perform in Beatles-style.

There will be two concerts in the Park Inn Poliarnie Zori (nightclub Ledokol and restaurant) as well as a charity open air concert outside of the hotel building on Saturday afternoon. The main groups will be “Lucy in the Sky” (Germany) and “The Norwegian Beatles” (Alta / Norway).
It starts to become difficult to get a hotel room during Economic Forum in Murmansk in October

Those who want to participate in the 1st International Economic Forum (MEF-2009) 15 – 17 October in Murmansk and have not made their hotel reservation will very soon face problems to find a good room during this big event. Rooms with European standard are more or less fully booked. All rooms which still are available are ear marked for persons who are officially registered as participants at the Forum, says FLAIT Murmansk which is on behalf of the regional administration of Murmansk the official coordinator of accommodation and internal transport for all participants.
Russia’s gold- and currency reserves up 1.4 billion USD during last week

The Central Bank of Russia said on Thursday that the country’s gold and currency reserves are up by 1.4 billion USD during last week to a volume 403.4 billion USD per 7 August 2009.

Russia thinks that the western countries should reconsider the situation in the Caucasus region and to work out new approaches to resolve the regional conflict.
